Sweets Workshop: Food Fight

Wednesday, October 20, 2010 2 Comments A+ a-

I popped over to the Sweets Workshop Gallery at Summer Hill yesterday to check out their latest exhibition- Food Fight. The Food Fight exhibit, which runs until November 5th includes; artwork, photography, recipes and food stories from local and international creatives and designers. Every few months the Sweets Workshop gallery changes to a new theme or showcases a particular artist. Being a fan of all things food & sweet, I just had to check it out. The exhibit also featured some of my fave artists/designers/bloggers like; Dawn Tan & Anney. B

The Food Fight exhibit featured Dawn Tan's french macaron handmade fabric plushies! Too cute!
Some of the exhibit pieces- also featured in the Food Fight Zine!

The Food Fight: Sweet tooth stuff zine, was like the 'cherry on top' of the exhibit! Off course I bought a copy it features illustrations, design, recipes and stories by; Anais Taylor, Jiayang,  Matthew Roland, Kendall Benton etc. There is a illustrated scone recipe by Dawn Tan, I also love Anney.B's sundae plates, John D-C The Pastels, Sayaka Monji's Sweets shout out and the Summer Hill Espresso Train cafe watercolour illustration by Emma Jane. All these works feature on the Food Fight exhibition walls (see above). The Food Fight: Sweet tooth Stuff edition zine is a limited print run- so grab a copy quick ($15)

There are always lots of handmade goodies available at the Sweets Workshop.
The Sweets Workshop sell their own stationery (love the polka dot wrapping paper) as well as zines &  other crafty handmade goods by local creatives. Big fan of Mechelle B's zines & Anney B's Cornycepia (vintage kithenalia) zine.

I also got to meet Sweets Workshop owner Emma too, who was lovely to chat with. This is really a special gallery, which you all must visit!
